Geography & Climate
Sangrur is located at 30.23o north and 75.83o east in Punjab state of India. It has an average elevation of about 232 meters. In Sangrur City the summer is very dry and hot and is really soar if you want to travel at this time. It starts from early March and lasts till July. Then from late July it starts monsoon season which lasts till end of September. The second half of the September and October can be termed as transition period. Sangrur City Guide is a very beautiful place to visit and the special attraction of this place is Bansar garden. Comfortable walking trails give you a panoramic view of the garden. This garden is famous for its marble Baradari which literally means building with twelve doors, exotic and rare plants and trees. This garden also has a mini zoo inside that amuses not only children but grown-ups also enjoy it really much. The Diwan Khana which is now a museum is situated in the mid of a pool and is decorated with carved marble slabs and four towers. Loheri and Basant festivals are enjoyed with enthusiasm here in Sangrur and people come from all over the world to witness and celebrate the famous Kite Festival here.

History
It is said that Sangrur was founded by Sanghu, a jatt, about 400 years back. But the earliest settlement in Sangrur is believed to have begun in 2300 B.C by people from Sindh and Balochistan who were attracted by the fertile soil and availability of water at this place. Once it was a part of Nabha state, but during the time of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, it was forcefully taken from Naba state and Gifted to Jind state.
